June 2024 newsletter compettion - Treasure Island
This month we ask you to travel to the terrifying Skull Island and find the hidden treasure buried there, armed only with some - unlikely - Excel clues

Rooting through your old software filing cabinet, you find a faded child's parchment drawing of a treasure map:

The map looks authentic - but where is the X marking the spot?

Attached to the map is a dusty old floppy disk. You find a friend who can read the contents, and manage to retrieve an old SuperCalc spreadsheet which your friend then loads into this Excel workbook:

The workbook appears to contain two worksheets: one has a square grid of letters (including punctuation and blanks), the other of numbers.

It's obvious that you should sort the numbers into ascending numerical order. If you can then somehow sort the letters into the same order, the resulting message should reveal where the treasure is hidden (including instructions for how to enter this month's competition, with a chance of winning a £50 voucher).
