Last month we blogged in detail about the new GROUPBY and PIVOTBY functions in Excel. This month we have 4 lighter new features: focus cells, colour pickers, Draw and Hold and some new templates.

When choosing colours, you can now limit your palette to colours which would offer a high degree of contrast. For example in the screen-shot below a nerd wants to change the background colour of a cell:
We want to make this number 857 stand out.
If you choose to change any colour in Excel, you'll now have the option of restricting your choice to high-contrast colours:
If you choose the option shown you'll see a restricted set of colours.
Here's one example of what this might give:
We've successfully implemented colours which make this number contrast well with its surrounding cells.
I'd imagine that this feature is useful for those designing workbooks which can be easily used by people with colour perception disabilities.
