ChatGPT gets its numbers wrong
It may seem a little OTT, but you can use your favourite AI tool as a calculator - as long as you don't mind if the answers are sometimes not quite right!

Calculating (wrongly) using ChatGPT

Hey, ChatGPT 4, what's 37 multipled by 3?

So far so good - this is correct.

Let's try a harder one:

This is convincing - but slightly wrong! The correct answer (as I'm sure you've worked out by now) is 97,421,969,088.

I'm sure they will correct this soon, but it's nice to see that even the most modern AI tools make mistakes! The reason for the anomaly is that ChatGPT was never meant to be a calculator - it just uses what it has seen in the past to predict the future, which gives odd results when absolute precision is important.
