SQL Exercises using Wise Owl's Music Database |
---|
We've recently published a new set of exercises for our SQL training courses based on a database of concert tours. This blog provides a brief tour of the database and how to tackle the exercises on our website, even if you haven't attended a Wise Owl training course. |
If you've ever been on a Wise Owl training course you'll hopefully remember that we like to use datasets that are a little more fun than the usual, boring sales examples. Rather than finding rehashed examples using Microsoft's standard Northwind or Adventure Works databases, on a Wise Owl course you're more likely to be searching for a list of movies belonging to the 'awful' genre, or finding out which important historical events occurred around the time you were born.
We've used a variety of databases over the years and we've just published a new set of exercises for our SQL courses based on a database of music. So, now you can discover exciting facts such as which album has the longest average track length, or how many concerts Taylor Swift has performed at Wembley Stadium!
Here's the database diagram for the Wise Owl Music database:
There's lots of scope for interesting SQL queries here!
If you'd like to install the Wise Owl Music database to practise with, you can follow the instructions in this exercise.
You can now tackle any of the music-related SQL exercises on this page. Have fun!
If you're interested in booking a course which teaches you how to complete the exercises (amongst other things), take a look at our SQL courses.
