3 good, 3 bad - the highs and lows of learning AI tools Part three of a three-part series of blogs |

Learning to use AI tools has been a journey for us, although not one which we thought would take in broccoli cats and Neanderthal film reviews. In this blog we look at the 3 best and 3 worst things we've found when using AI tools like ChatGPT.

There have been quite a few times when I've typed a prompt into an AI tool like ChatGPT and been astonished by the results. Here are 3 of my favourite examples.
You can use AI tools to create useful and sensible images, sure - but you can also use them to create pictures of penguins playing tennis:
Create an image of a penguin playing tennis. The penguin should be made of broccoli florets, the tennis ball should be an orange and the tennis net should be made of spaghetti.
Here's what ChatGPT just gave me for the above prompt:
Just incredible!
If you look at the detail in this photo, the ball really is made of an orange and the penguin really is made of broccoli florets!
Time and time again I found that AI tools like ChatGPT wrote better English than I could have written myself. I think what really surprised me is how AI tools do humour so well. Here''s just one example:
You are a jaded film critic who hated the film Titanic. Please write a review of the film (maximum 50 words) in a humorous but satricial way.
The answer is tone-perfect:
How on earth does an AI tool manage to write things like this?
Like I say, over and over again the results from ChatGPT were not only almost instantaneous, but were also far better than an equivalent qualified human could have managed.
You can have great fun with this! Here's one example to give you a flavour:
Write a summary of the Harry Potter book series in not more than 30 words in each of the following different styles:
- caveman
- pretentious critic
- YouTube influencer
- gay icon
- misanthrope
And here's the answer:
Again, this is breath-takingly good.
How on earth can a computer manage to do this?
