The amzing creativity of our readers in creating competition images |
---|
In our Christmas newsletter we asked people to create an image through our website, which used behind-the-scenes code to generate pictures in Dall-E/ChatGPT. The results surpassed our expectations: here are some of the best pictures, together with the details of the overall winner of the competition. |
In our Christmas newsletter we asked you to use our website to generate an image in ChatGPT, but the catch was that you only got one attempt. Despite this huge handicap people produced some brilliant images. Here are a few of my favourites!
Probably the best image produced was this one, which used one of the shortest and simplest prompts:
"Pig wearing Christmas jumper"
A couple of people dipped into politics:
"A picture of Sir Kier Starmer riding a pig through the British countryside, whilst drinking champagne"
Some prompts were amazingly detailed, and often deserved better results than they got:
"Atmospheric photographic quality scene with caravaggesque lighting. An owl, contently leaning back in his office chair in a corner tower of a medieval castle set in the misty Scottish highlands, sipping from a glass of Glen Moray 18 year old whisky whilst admiring an expertly drawn data model of the 'small rodents' database showing on his high spec laptop. Pictures of generations of his owl family in kilts and heraldic owl-based symbos adorn the walls."
But I think my favourite picture/prompt, and hence the winner of this competition's £50 prize voucher, was this one from Andy Derbyshire of APSE:
"Create a picture of a post apocalyptic scene where squirrels have become the dominant life form and a family of them are sat at a table watching television eating their evening meal."
Congratulations to Andy, thanks to everyone who took part, and look for a return of this competition soon (well, I enjoyed it!). You can see all of the images submitted (apart from the one which seemed to be sponsored, which didn't get past the moderator) here.
