Creating combination charts for data where a secondary axis is required for butter data

This exercise is provided to allow potential course delegates to choose the correct Wise Owl Microsoft training course, and may not be reproduced in whole or in part in any format without the prior written consent of Wise Owl.

Before you can do this exercise, you'll need to download and unzip this file .

Open the file contained within the folder name shown above.

Press CTRL + A to select all the data, then press F11 to create a default chart.

Use the chart filter tool to exclude (remove) the % of population series from the chart. This is the chart you have so far:

We want to improve this chart!

The chart would look much better if the Total Population series used a different scale, as the numbers are much larger for this.

Change the chart type to a combo chart and change the chart type for the Total Population to a line chart on a secondary axis:

Just the Total Population series is set to a Line chart on a Secondary Axis.

The chart will now have 2 axis scales:

You can edit each axis scale separately.

Use the formatting options to make the Total Population line chart clearer:

A darker, dotted line could be easier to see more clearly?

Use Save As... to save the file in your own new Excel work folder.
