We are embracing AI with a brand-new two-day course (and have also reviewed Copilot within 365)

It's time! We are delighted to announce the launch of a new two-day course in using AI tools effectively, bookable now (with dates publsihed from the start of September onwards for courses online, in Manchester and in London). As always with new courses we reserve the right to tweak the contents slightly between now and the delivery date.

Staying with the AI theme, we've bitten the bullet and subscribed to Copilot for 365, allowing us to create formulae in Excel, summarise Word documents and write emails in Outlook effortlessly. Well, that's what we thought would happen ...

Our Andrew (Gould) celebrates his 20th Wise Owl birthday with some (data-driven, naturally) insights

As the BASIC language celebrates its 60th birthday, an entertaining and nostalgic look back in time

Crack out the champagne: the BASIC language had its 60th birthday on 1st May, 2024 (making it just a smidgeon older than the oldest Wise Owl). Andrew looks back affectionately at his first experience of programming (and shows how you can recreate early experiences!) and also asks: which was the first language you learnt?

Announcing the launch of two new sections of our website, giving free tips and free tutorials

We've created a completely new section of our website to hold quick tips on using software, and also hived our tutorials into their own dedicated section (and made this much easier to navigate). You can see details of all of these changes here.

The April 2024 Power BI update, and an example of a model Wise Owl report to show how it's done!

The April 2024 Power BI Desktop update introduced a new 100% stacked area chart, and also some enhancements to smoothed and stepped line charts, but we wait - still - for the release of the big beasts from preview.
