Power BI Desktop updates for March 2025 Part one of a five-part series of blogs |
---|
These updates were announced in the dying hours of the last day of March, presumably as part of the Fabric Community conference in Las Vega.
|
At the 11th hour (towards the end of 31st March) Microsoft released the March 2025 Power BI Desktop update, which includes the following features:
Feature | Details |
---|---|
You can now include in your theme one more more alternative preset styles for particular visual types. | |
It's easier now to copy a table or part of a table (including a single value). | |
If you've added (for example) an average or a percentile to a chart, you can now shade the area above or below it. | |
You can now show cards by category, with a host of options for formatting these multi-row or multi-column cards. |
The majority of the update is to do with enhancements to the use of Copilot within Power BI, to which many people won't have access. For this reason (and because our mission is to show people how to learn the mechanics of creating reports, and not just how to use wizards to do this for you) we've decided not to include these Copilot updates in this blog series.
The list of features in preview grows ever longer, and on-object formatting still hasn't seen the light of day. I asked ChatGPT when this feature might emerge from preview and got a waffly answer, which suggests that no one (apart from Microsoft, of course) really knows.
