Power BI consultancy and software development

We've been training on Power BI Desktop almost since its first release, and have watched it grow and improve over the years.

WE've also blogged on every update since November 2016, giving our own unique take on what's good and what's not so good in each new feature introduced.

There are three main areas in which we can help you, although they tend to be linked!

Creating your data model

To create Power BI reports, you must first load tables into your data model:

Power BI data model

This data model contains tables imported from Excel, SQL Server and from the web.

We can help you decide on your best strategy for extracting, transforming and loading data in Power BI.

Creating reports

We can advise you on the best way to build reports:

A typical report

It's easy enough to create simple reports in Power BI, but surprisingly difficult to create more complicated ones.

This might include the use of bookmarks, page navigation buttons, visual header tooltips and report tooltips, among other ease-of-use features in Power BI.

Creating measures in DAX

This is where most people hit a brick wall. DAX is not easy to learn, and most people will need a helping hand to understand formulae like this one:

We can help you unlock the mysteries of the CALCULATE, VALUES, FILTER, RANKX and even EARLIER functions, or just build measures for you.

Note that the one thing we CAN'T help you with is advice on Power BI administration, including setting up gateways, publishing to SharePoint, controlling security access and using Power BI Server. We're experts at building reports, but not at controlling who sees them.
