Manual data model join with Matrix visual

This exercise is provided to allow potential course delegates to choose the correct Wise Owl Microsoft training course, and may not be reproduced in whole or in part in any format without the prior written consent of Wise Owl.

Before you can do this exercise, you'll need to download and unzip this file .

Using Power BI Desktop, import all the sheets from Gym Class Sheets.xlsx in the above folder.

Switch to Model view and note that one of the tables hasn't joined the rest of the model. Create a join between Classes - LocationID and Centre Locations - CentreID then hide the ID fields.

Switch to Report view and add a matrix visual with the following data:

Rows - Gym Name
Columns - Class Date (Month)
Values - Attendees

Apply some formatting to the matrix so that it appears similar to the image below.

People must be hitting the gym Apr/May to get ready for holidays!

Duplicate the page and add the Class Name column to the rows bucket under Gym Name. Change the position of the row sub totals so they appear at the bottom for each gym and expand the rows.

Save the file as Red or Blue pill.pbix
