Using Slicers in Power BI

This exercise is provided to allow potential course delegates to choose the correct Wise Owl Microsoft training course, and may not be reproduced in whole or in part in any format without the prior written consent of Wise Owl.

Before you can do this exercise, you'll need to download and unzip this file .

Open the Movie Data.pbix file from the folder shown above.

Without using a slicer, set the table to only show films longer than 120 minutes.

Add a slicer which shows only the names of directors. Filter the slicer to show only directors who have worked for 20th Century Fox on Action or Science Fiction films.

Note the cross filter direction.

The Cross-filter direction can be changed in the Model view. Double click a relationship line to change its settings.

Switch on the search facility for the Director slicer and select directors with the letters 'st' in their name.

Click More options in the visual header to see this menu.

Add a New Slicer visual to show the Description and Icon URL fields for each Certificate (make sure the Icon URL has the correct data category). Use the formatting options to make the slicer appear as below.

Select the 12A certificate.

The resulting table should look like this.
