In Power BI, setting visual interactions can be an absolute slog, check out this tip for the basics.
This is especially true when you want to turn off interactions on most visuals.
With 5 visuals you need 20 clicks to disable all the interactions!
Thankfully, you can set visual interactions to be disabled by default.
To do this, from the ribbon choose File | Options and Settings | Options. On the dialog box which appears, in the Current File | Query reduction page, check the box next to the Disabling cross highlighting/filtering by default option.
That is much quicker than doing them separately!
Now you can toggle on any interactions that you actually want.
Fewer interactions leads to less confusion and lower load times, which is vital when using Direct Query mode.
Interestingly there is also an option to default interactions to Filter instead of Highlight but this is only available in the Power BI Service!
