In Power BI, you can set interactions individually or turn them off by default.
What if you preferred the default interaction to be Filter?
Visuals like Pie charts and Column charts default to Highlight, we want Filter!
Interestingly this option is no longer available in Power BI Desktop but it is in the Power BI Service.
Go to the reading view of the report and from the menu choose File | Settings. Toggle on Change default visual interaction from cross highlighting to cross filtering and then click Save.
Clicking this changes the current report only.
Now your interactions will all be set to Filter as the default interaction.
You can still change the interaction for each visual individually if you need to.
