The aim of this exercise is to avoid writing a query like the one shown below:
We want to avoid including the highlighted case expression twice.
To avoid writing the case expression twice, you can build the query in two steps. Start by creating a query to show the sales certification and chart position for each album.
This first query produces the base data for the next step. You'll need to include the case expression to get these results.
Use the with keyword to convert this query into a common table expression, then use it to produce the following results:
We've sorted the results in ascending order of the average chart position.
Save the script as CTEasy.sql and then close it.
