Use a derived table subquery in SQL Server to display details of venues and statistics for concerts.

Before you can do this exercise, you'll need to download and unzip this file .

If you don't have a copy of the Music_01 database, follow the instructions at the following link to create it: www.wiseowl.co.uk/sql/exercises/standard/using-sql-server/5257/

Open the Venue Show Statistics.sql file from the folder shown above. You'll find a query which shows statistics for shows which took place at different venues.

Results of a grouping query in SQL Server.

The query doesn't provide much useful information about the venues.

We'd like to display more information about each venue but without having to include lots of columns in the GROUP BY clause of the existing query.

Use the existing query as a derived table subquery and join it to the Venue table using the Venue_ID columns.

Include extra information about each venue as shown below:

We've also joined the City table and sorted the results by the Count_shows column.

Save and close the file.
