Use derived table subqueries in SQL Server to merge the results of different grouping queries into a single result set.

Before you can do this exercise, you'll need to download and unzip this file .

If you don't have a copy of the Music_01 database, follow the instructions at the following link to create it: www.wiseowl.co.uk/sql/exercises/standard/using-sql-server/5257/

Open the Aggregating Artists.sql file from the folder shown above. You'll find a query which counts the singles released by each artist.

Some of the results you should see if you run the query.

Use the existing query as a derived table and join it to the Artist table so that you can display the name of the artist rather than just the ID.

The results are a little more readable now.

Add more derived table subqueries and join them to the Artist table to see the results shown below:

Take care with the type of join that you use!

Save and close the file.
