This will generate the database that you'll need to use in order to do this exercise (remember to refresh your list of databases to see it!). Note that any files provided are only to be used for exercises published on this website, and may not be reused or distributed in any form without the prior written permission of Wise Owl.
If you don't have a copy of the Music_01 database, follow the instructions at the following link to create it: www.wiseowl.co.uk/sql/exercises/standard/using-sql-server/5257/
Write a script to create a stored procedure called usp_Number_1_Albums which returns the following columns from the Album table where the US_Billboard_200_peak equals 1.
As a reminder, the syntax to create a basic stored procedure is:
CREATE PROC NameOfProcedure AS
SELECT ...
Execute the script to create the stored procedure.
Refresh the Stored Procedures folder in the Object Explorer window to make sure your new stored procedure appears.
Hopefully your procedure appears in the right database. You did remember to add a USE statement, didn't you?
Execute the stored procedure to see its results.
Perhaps the easiest way to do this is to select the name of your procedure in the script you used to create it, then choose to execute the selected text.
You should see a list of album details.
The first few results you should see.
Change the CREATE PROC statement to an ALTER PROC statement and sort the albums in descending order of US sales.
Execute the script to alter the procedure and then execute the procedure to see the new results.
The first few albums in their new order.
Save the script as Top of the Procs.sql and then close it.
