In SQL do you ever get bored of writing common statements over and over again?
How many times have you written SELECT COUNT(*) FROM in your SQL career?
In SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) you can create a keyboard shortcut to execute a SQL statement.
I want to be able to highlight a table name and use a keyboard shortcut to count its rows.
To create a keyboard shortcut, choose Tools | Options from the SSMS menu. On the dialog box which appears, choose Environment | Keyboard | Query Shortcuts and add your code to one of the empty query shortcuts.
Enter the code you want to run. In this example it's important to leave a space after FROM.
Click OK on the dialog box then close and reopen SSMS. You can now use the keyboard shortcut to execute the code.
I've selected the table name and pressed Ctrl + 4 to execute my stored code.
