In Excel VBA, you can write code to open a file stored in OneDrive. Here's some example code to do that:
Sub Open_File_in_OneDrive()
Dim FilePathToOpen As String
FilePathToOpen = _
Environ("OneDrive") & _
"\My Folder\File_to_open.xlsx"
Workbooks.Open FilePathToOpen
End Sub
If you run this code while you're offline, you may see an error message similar to this:
The error message you might see.
This is usually followed by another message stating that the file doesn't exist (even when it does!):
The only useful thing you can do here is click End.
The problem is caused by OneDrive's file sync feature. The easiest way to avoid the error is to temporarily disable file syncing while offline.
Click the gear icon and choose Pause syncing, followed by a duration.
You may need to close and reopen the file containing your VBA code. The next time you run the code, the other file should open normally.
