What's new in the July 2023 Power BI update Part three of a four-part series of blogs |
---|
The July update contains smoothed and leader lines for charts, which are very welcome, but on-object interaction remains elusively stuck in preview ...
We've been creating our idiosyncratic monthly blogs on Power BI updates since November 2016, and also deliver online and classroom Power BI courses. |
The easiest way to explain what leader lines are is to show an example!
Leader lines are the lines between data points on a line or area chart and their data labels.
Here's how to set leader lines for data labels:
See below for why you might want to set a minimum label offset too.
For the chart in this example, the leader lines don't show up unless you set a minimum label offset (otherwise Power BI just puts the data labels right next to their respective data points, and no leader lines are needed!).
