Road-testing 4 different AI tools, so you don't have to! Part two of a nine-part series of blogs |
---|
In this blog we'll compare OpenAI's Chat GPT 4, Google's Gemini, Anthropic's Claude 3.5 and Microsoft's Copilot to see which AI tool gives the best results for different types of queries.
|
So my aim for this blog series is to review the best AI tools for business. Here are the ones that made the cut:
Tool | Provider | Cost | Notes |
---|---|---|---|
ChatGPT 4o | OpenAI | $20 a month | This is the face of AI to the world (and famously, the fastest-growing consumer app of all time). |
Gemini | Free | Formerly called Bard, this AI tool is impossible to overlook, if only because it has the might of Google behind it. | |
Claude 3.5 | Anthropic | Free / $20 a month | You can ask Claude up to 30 messages a day for free, but the paid version allows more message and gives priority access. |
Copilot | Microsoft | It's (typically) complicated | The monthly cost of a Copilot licence depends on whether you have a 365 licence, how you'll be using it and whether it's raining that day. |
These seemed the obvious tools to compare. Here are the ones I chose NOT to include, and why I omitted them:
Tool | Why I omitted it |
---|---|
Perplexity | This isn't an AI tool itself; more of a search engine built upon AI tools (this is reflected in the fact that for the Pro version you can choose whether to use GPT-4o, Claude 3 or another large language model). |
ChatGPT 3.5 | I was tempted to include this, but as the advert used to say: why have cotton when you can have silk? It seems pointless reviewing a tool we know to be inferior. |
Mistral | This is a French start-up which has been getting a lot of publicity, but I couldn't find much evidence of its popularity in the English-speaking world. |
Meta's Llama | This seems to be more of a development tool than a simple question-and-answer interface, as I discovered when I downloaded it. |
Other tools | Other tools thrown up by searches included Chatsonic, YouChat, Pi (AI) and Poe (from Quora), but none of them seem to have anything like the impact of the tools I've chosen to review. |
If I've missed out your favourite AI tool - unjustly - please let me know what it is, and why I should have included it!
