We also send out useful tips in a monthly email newsletter ...
The items included in this newsletter are listed below. Our newsletter go out about once a month - if you'd like to subscribe, just let us know!
Another month, another breathtakingly good AI tool. NotebookLM from Google can take any data source and turn it into a podcast. We created a 10 minute "audio overview" summarising our website offering, and then (for light relief) a 25 minute podcast summarising the rules of survival from the film Zombieland. The results are astonishing, although the American accents grate a bit (I've included some thoughts on how you could change these to British). Beware: you'll immediately want to sign up for a free trial to create your own podcast!
We've had a few enquiries from clients who want to encourage their staff to use AI tools like Copilot, Claude and ChatGPT more, but who can't afford for them to spend two days out of the office attending our AI tools course. We've therefore this month released a new one-day Prompt engineering in AI course, which will cover:
Choosing an AI tool to use
How to write prompts to get the best results out of your AI friend
Using variables and placeholders in your prompts
Other prompting techniques (such as one-shot, few-shot and chain of thought prompts)
The different inputs and outputs available to you
Specific tips for using Copilot
An understanding of how AI works
If time allows, a look at how to use AI tools to organise your home life
If time allows, an overview of generating images in AI tools
We've published a list of dates to the end of the year, but if you can't see the date or venue that you want please let us know and we'll see if we can help you meet your training need.
Your newsletter editor has foolishly signed up for the London Marathon, despite never previously having run more than 10k (less than a quarter of the distance). But it turns out that training for a marathon is even harder than I'd imagined ...
There's nothing much in the February 2025 Power BI update, but Microsoft have announced the inaugural Power BI DataViz World Championships! The winners of the 4 qualifying rounds will complete live on-stage at the Fabric Commmunity conference in Las Vegas (FabCon) at the end of March for the title of world champion. Here's our AI impression of what the delegates might look like if they went in suitable costumes (Comic Con style):
This could be you!
Supoort for Windows 10 is being withdrawn from October of this year - here's what this means. And since that's not that exciting, you could try this Windows 95 parody app, along with lots of other coding and CSS show-off programs created just for fun.
This month we're challenging you to spell out the hidden message left over once you've found the 55 fruit and veg hidden in our grid (you can see the competition details and a proper copy of the gird here):
The first correct entry drawn out of our random sorting hat will win a £50 voucher! You can see the winner of (and answers to) last month's film picture quiz here.
Note that to keep our website content up-to-date we only publish newsletters from the last 3 calendar years.
