Changes in the May 2023 update to Power BI Desktop

Here are the main changes in the May 2023 Power BI Desktop update for report-writers:

Change	Notes
Azure Maps	The Azure Maps visual is now officially (finally!) part of Power BI Desktop, and will replace the other current Power BI map visuals over time.
Measures for data labels	You can now set the data labels for a chart to be the value of a measure or other field.
The Optimize ribbon	Another feature emerging from preview, the main new feature that the Optimize ribbon provides is the ability to pause and restart visuals.
Other features	Other new features include hybrid tables for DirectQuery users, a new DAX function (MATCHBY) and improved accessibility keystrokes for matrix users.

The new on-object interaction formatting feature is still being improved in preview; I look forward to including it in this series of blogs on Power BI Desktop updates as soon as it's released!
